Campgrounds Etiquette

We had a thread less than three months ago about the same topic.

One phrase will sum up the matter; "Due unto others as you would have them due unto you". Kapish?

Most campgrounds have the rules listed on the back of the map they give you.

So when you say etiquette are you talking rules. If it's not important enough to make it a rule, where do you stop and what do you do if people ignore it?

Common sense is the beginning of manners.
Many people walking through campsites just do not know better. No one has told them or they don't understand the rudeness of it.
If a person pays rent (campground fee) then they should not expect
anyone walk through their site and privacy.
We have been RVing for more than 10 years and have very rarely seen anyone acting rude or uncivilized.
Our camper does have wheels so if anything gets un-fixable we can move.

There you go twisting things again. You can start by showing where I said "my" beliefs are the norm? What is my belief according to you? Because I've never met you and you don't obviously know me.

Where I did venture off is, my comment that some in society today want to "change"!the constitution to fit their agenda. That is probably were you and I have a beef. So be it. For what it's worth - again - I don't care if someone belongs in the LBGT community, wears pink socks, there little girl shaves there head, man want to wear a skirt, etc, etc. But I can tell you that if a man decides he's a women one day and is about to use the same restroom my wife is in, it will get real interesting.

But when you start telling me my rights are up for revocation by anyone in this country, then IMHO your not the norm. If that is your argument then we are at a severe disagreement. Your normal doesn't trump mine, they are the "same". Before you start calling others self centered you should really do a reality check on yourself.

If you don't like rules then don't go to a top campground in this country - Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan. It's gotten many awards. The campground, restrooms and showers are spotless. The rules are enforced.

When you check in you are given a BIG list of rules and the ones most disregarded by campers are read to you out loud. You will have no reason to say "I didn't know that" when the ranger comes by.

Amazingly, folks go to that campground because of the rules and that they're enforced. There is rarely an open spot there.

We volunteered there for eight seasons and listened to the visitor comments. They loved it.

Back to the "basic" question of this thread. Yes. Because some people just don't use common sense. Unfortunately, when common sense gets thrown out the window, it takes an "authority" to implement rules to force common sense and courtesy. The only people who get offended by the rules are those who feel they don't have to follow them. Those who follow them instinctively don't have a problem with the "rules", they are already do them.

Putting the rules on campground materials? Yes. First is protects the campground, and DOES give the campground a recourse to evict. When agreeing to use the campsite, you're agreeing to a contract and that contract are the "rules." This protects the campground.

Second, it protects all the campers too, and gives them a recourse if the rules are violated by other campers.

Now???? how these rules are enforced is an entirely separate forum topic, isn't it?

In over 50 years of camping, I've only been in one campground that actually "enforced" rules. I actually was not aware of the "rule" I violated, but it was so basic, I didn't even think about it. When the campground owner approached me on the subject (he didn't throw me out or anything), I was so taken back and the stupidity of it, we never went back to that campground again. And probably never will go back. So, I can't live by that rule. So, I also choose not to go back. I think both campground owner and myself are both happy with that! (common sense? Yes!)

OK! How about courtesy on the forum? Just because you don't agree with someone does not make you right and the expert on right. Westernrvparkowner, if you don't like rules in your park then let us all know where it is. I am sure we can avoid it in our travels. Thin skins in here when it comes to behaving like adults. Who is flaming the fire of LGBT equality? Where did that come up in campground etiquette? I'll treat them the same way I will treat anyone else, with respect until they, or anyone, shows that they have no self respect. What about Lutherans? Should we treat them different? Lutherans you ask? Where did that come from? From left field just like the LGBT equality came from. Go to another forum to push an agenda.
