Going camping this weekend and would really like to sit outside in 60* temps with a beer or scotch, Dutch oven chili cooking and watch a game. First time camping without a boat or fishing and this sounds really relaxing to me.
I have an extra DTV dish, I figured that I could take a receiver out of the house with me. I tried a dry run in the backyard and could not get reception. Think the eyes are out of date on the old dish?
I also thought of taking the iPad and running it through a tv, but there are very few games on Internet.
Any thoughts???
I did the same thing. We had DTV when my daughter moved out I took the receiver out of her room and put it in the 5th wheel. I then bought a triple LNB DTV dish with 100 ft. cable off of Craigslist for $20. Hooked it all up and aimed the dish and all worked well.
The trick is getting the dish aimed correctly. It requires proper elevation, left right angle and rotation adjustments, plus the base has to be level. Originally I made a wooden base but later made a T shaped base out of uni-strut and leveled it two ways using three 1/2" all-thread stakes into the ground. Look on the internet on how to aim the dish. That's what I did. The first time I tried it at home it took me about 2 hours to figure everything out and get the adjustments right. After that I could do it in 10 minutes when setting up at the lake.
