Having been that kid myself........total rebuild right foot. Casts....three separate ones cause it is REALLY difficult as a kid to NOT bear weight when pain becomes tolerable.
What's better..a slightly bored kid whose ankle heals quickly WITHOUT complications OR one that goes and participates and swears/promises to not bare weight.

I totally agree!!!! We are being extra protective of it, that's why we are looking for safe things for him to do. That's why we have crossed the kayak, and the boat off the list, the transition from crutch to boat scares us that he could fall and damage it.
I took him fishing on the dock the other night and that really cheered him up.
