Charge circuit diode?

We have a charge circuit from the MH to the toad, but we're still having problems with the car battery going low. Have yet to pull fuses, and don't really want to (PITA). I'm wondering if maybe when the MH isn't running the toad battery is trying to power the MH. Seems like a diode in the charge line would eliminate that possibility. Any ideas on what capacity diode would be needed? Would the same ones used for turn signals and brake lights be enough?

Thanks for any thoughts . . .

  • I'm working on this project now. However, we are traveling and can't find the diode I want. I measured my Jeep charge currrent & it is 7 amps. Fused it for 10 & no problems. I don't think I need to buy a Toad charge that doesn't do more than a diode. All Electronics sells a MBR2545CT diode for $1.20 that will work. 25 amps@45v.

I haven't been using a diode to charge my Jeep but when I turn off ignition on MH Jeep battery feeds back voltage. This effects slide operation, camera operation auto front shade. If I find a diode source other than web I'll PM you.
