- wanderingaimlesExplorerThe ideal of the EV being the cure all for environmental ills is about the same as Eugenics being a cure all for societal ills a hundred or so years ago.
And it is approached by its acolytes with the same zeal and desire to force it upon all others. Most are and were well intentioned but still,,,
Misguided then, misguided now. - TvovExplorer IIWow... FIVE days to charge on a 120 outlet?? I knew they took awhile, but not that long. Then they switched to the 50amp, and the charging time dropped to 14 hours... yikes, still I did not know they took that long.
For some reason I thought a 120 outlet would be like an overnight charge, not 5 days. - wanderingaimlesExplorer

Would have been nice to know if they found the issue. I use a Hughes Power Watchdog, which scans the post, something like that here would have been helpful.
The issue is the four pin plug is for 240 volts. The 30 to 50 adapter does 120 on each leg so it will not work. One could make an adapter tht would work.
A way to test would to be to use the 20 vehicle plug, with a 30 to 20 adapter. That would present the correct voltage to the charging adapter.
I was thinking of the 30 amp plug issue. - Fulltimer50Explorer

Using the 30 amp to 50 amp likely confused the charging unit as both legs of the power were on the same phase. Well 15 hours to full charge from 22%.
This is the answer! pianotuna wrote:
Yes they even knew better and still showed up with just 32 amps instead of 40 while wanting the maximum charge rate.
32 x 240 = 7680 watts
The pedestal is rated for 12000 watts.

Yes, seems a number of state parks are providing dedicated charging stations. Linky More will surely follow. I think KOAs are also beginning to offer this.
I've seen them in PA and WV state parks. The ones I've seen are not anywhere near the campgrounds. At Blackwater Falls WV they are at the lodge 2 miles or so away from the campground. I guess if you have the time to go to them and wait around while charging they're great. Not a lot to do at the Blackwater Falls lodge though. Hike a trail or have an overpriced dinner that is basically low grade dog food. Frozen entrees and veggies from a can.
