In fairness, to my surprise I did just receive a response from conservation area staff ...
"We have recently updated and upgraded our reservation system online and in park as a result there are still some glitches that we are working through, that being said thank you for bringing this to our attention as we cannot fix something we are unaware of or have missed during the release. I can assure you check in and out times have not changed at all and I apologize for the confusion, check in is still at 2pm and check out is 1pm."
Great news ... BUT I have to ask - "not aware of"? Really? How in the world could any organization launch a new reservation system and overlook such an obvious mistake? :h
I'm going to guess that you're making your reservation in a different time zone than the park is in, and their software is "helpfully" translating the time for your time zone. You need to check out by 9:00 AM pacific time, which happens to be 1:00 PM local time at the park.
If that's the case, I can rather easily believe that they might not have found that particular bug; it doesn't affect the basic operation of the system, and needs more or less careful reading of the screen to catch, and requires that you be making the reservation from a system that (thinks it's) in a different time zone than the park.
The computer programmer in me would say they should just display all times as UTC to avoid any possibility of misunderstanding, but somehow I suspect that proposal would not get very far.
