About half way through our PCS from FL to CA. Left Wichita Falls, TX this morning for Tucumcari, NM. Took 287 up to I-40, it was a great ride, but windy as all get out. I found it comical that everywhere there was a "Severe Crosswind" sign, there were actually severe crosswinds. I stopped once to double check all connections and sway brace...well, I got to our campground (KOA) and I find that my access door to my propane tanks has gone missing... What a pain, I guess it departed during the winds today. Long story short, my wife now knows why I do a complete walk around when we stop....I treat it like a post flight walk around.Tomorrow is Farmington, NM, then 4-Corners and Grand Canyon.Safe travels. I see you visited our fair city. Were you just here overnight? Where did you stay? Coyote Creek or the city RV park? For overnighting or just a couple days stay, at $17.00 for water, elect and a dump station, the city park is a good deal. As far as the wind, sorry for your loss, but the wind is pretty much an everyday occurance here.

We stayed for six days at the park on Seymour HWY (Wichita Falls RV park). My dad's side of the family is from there. It is three miles from my aunt's and a little further to one of my favorite grocery store, United Market Street. I try to get back often to see my grandfather, he is 92. Plus, I want my kids to see him too.

I am pretty sure I lost my access door within the last 15 miles of TX, entering NM. We are in Farmington now heading to 4-Corners tomorrow.

How can anyone just leave Wiskey Tall Falls - I love that town... You can drink just ONE long neck in each honky tonk from East Scott Street to Sheppard Access Road on North Scott and won't know which way is up hehe...

There is two bars near the middle of town on Scott street where one is cowboy bar and the other is biker bar. Then you notice on the floor black tire marks and I guess at least once a nite two or three motorcycles come roaring thru the bar haha... Them guys and gals know how to have fun I reckon...

For any Wichita Falls folks on here I go all the way to the famous Silver Dollar days on N Scott and Sheppard Access RD...

Cale, Thank you for the reminder of how important a pre-trip and post-trip walk around is. I check at least twice all doors and covers. Have not had any incidence so far. With that said I want to thank you for your service to this great country.

lost the escape window in our 5ver last year had to have plexiglass replacement made in whitehorse yukon and continued on to Alaska for the summer.

On a trip from WI to CA I got as far as Tulsa battling high winds with my first TT......I turned around and went back home!

Unfortunately, there is no turning around, my home has moved... :)
Which brings up another point I was going to mention earlier....be sure you have the right gear for the job...my first TV was a 99 Ram 1500. I would have been absolutely miserable today, I am sure my trailer would have been wagging me all over the road....

And THAT is exactly what was my problem, WRONG TV, new at RV'ing with a TT and it was the tail wagging the dog all the way. When the storms kicked up I was done in the water.

It is by far the most important factor when towing a TT. I read so many posts that say "well I tow with that and it's no problem". Well IMHO they are skating on thin ice all the time and when confronted with bad weather they are an accident waiting to happen.

I forgot to mention Thank You for you service now and in the future. Going to Nav. post Grad school? Our son did DLI there. He will PCS in OCT. You may find the need for a jacket more often than in FLA. Sunner there is Oct. lol
We lost a Bay door on our bus when we move from one rv park to anouther just before we retired. drove the route and found it. I know you could not would not and well you know. Enjoy the drive.

Got lucky (or unlucky), was a geo-bachelor for two years during sea duty. Going to school in Monterey for two years, but want to get back to Jacksonville....that means I have to do this again in 24 months. I think we are going to do the northern trek back.

Same thing happen to us returning from Memorial Day trip. Stopped at gas station to fill up and found the access panel on propane cover gone. Arrived home to clean trailer out before taking it to dealer for other repairs and found the oven vent flapper gone. Both ran a little more than $20 to replace.
