Colorado Springs Wildfires

We have four wildfires in the C/S area so if you are planning your vacation in our area, please don't come now. In C/S, we have the Black Forest fire which is several thousand acres and has burned over 60 homes already! In Canon City, the Royal Gorge fire is about 4000 acres and is not conained at all, threatening the town and the Royal Gorge complex. There is a small 50 acre fire west of La Veta, and a small fire in Rocky Mtn. Nat'l. Park. We have record heat (98 degrees), 2% humidity, and winds...making it EXTREMELY dangerous for more fires.

    And for you C2C members - the membership park 'Colorado Heights" (our home park) is,I believe, within the evacuation zone for the Black Forets fire. Check before going there!

    IDman - We are leaving Friday heading on annual trip to South Fork. Reservations we can't change. We always go I-25 from Raton to Walsenburg then west on US 160 to South Fork. Is the La Veta fire affecting US 160 traffic?

    Wow! Sorry to hear this. You guys had a lot of wildfires last summer as well.

    New Mexico has already started with a few as well. It may be a bad season for fires. CA has been have several as well.

    Really need some rains about now.
