- FunnyCamperExplorer IIinteresting thread. I never wanted to cook while underway. There isn't any food that can't wait to be cooked til I am stopped and in more control of the situation. We find there is just no need but it is interesting to read those who put a crockpot in the sink and travel :) and while I feel that is safe, using the stove or oven while in motion won't ever happen.

First, I'm assuming you're talking about an RV, not a trailer?
RV= Recreational Vehicle
trailer (travel trailer)= RV
therefore, the trailer is a RV
RV is a general term, not just for Motorhomes.
Motorhomes, 5th wheels, TTs, truck campers, popups are all RVs - 2gypsies1Explorer III

We always cooked our lunch on the manifold while Jeeping. It's amazing that even on rough boulder-filled roads we never lost anything. It was great having something hot for lunch.
On our Alaska trip we made BBQ ribs in the crockpot (secured in the sink) and the wonderful smell was with us.
I wouldn't use the oven though because whatever you'd put in there could easily move around on sharp turns or bumps. free radical wrote:
Yes much safer than hibachi BBQ indoors ;)mike-s wrote:
Thats the only way I would do it,,wrap some steak with aluminum foil toss onto manifold and drive

Otherwise my propane is always on. I would not cook on the stove or oven for fear the food could too easily spill. Crock in the sink or a quick zap in the microwave.- free_radicalExplorer

Boats of all sizes cook while underway. - braindead0Explorerswap out your cooktop with gimbaled marine galley version with pot holders. Boats of all sizes cook while underway.
- garyhauptExplorerI use a Dutch oven in the oven. I prop a camera mono-pod from the door to the base of the cupboard opposite. Works like a hot **** and after a 5 hour drive? A nice slow cooked anything tastes mighty fine.
