As for sheriffs, In California they are the bottom rung of the law enforcement ladder and are guys who could not get accepted by the state highway patrol or a city police department where the pay is much better. They are a small step up from a prison guard.

If you choose not to carry that is your right. Many law abiding citizens choose to carry. The laws are only crazy to those who don't like them. I know many, many, many who carry and they are no more inclined to use them than you. You never hear how a serious crime was averted by just the mere presence of a firearm If you look at the facts of those who have a ccw you would see that the misuse is extremely small compared to the many, many thousands who have them. You obviously don't like LE. Have you done a ride a long. There are always fools and idiots even with LE. Check facts and walk in there shoes. How do you know the deputies couldn't get hired by the state. I have had citizens, security guards be my back up, I am glad they had a firearm.
