Well there you have it, proof that firing you gun into the air is safe, and of no concern to anyone even an already dead pig will not be harmed by such an action…
Every alcoholic should be trained in this method of firearm use because of it having been proven as a safe method of discharging your weapon and proving your manhood at the same time…
Is there any wonder other people wonder…
alcohol and firearms is fine as long as you passed physics class… good grief Charley Brown
No one said a danm thing about alcohol and firearms being a fine mix. What was pointed out was the bald faced LIE that a bullet is going to come down at 75% of the speed it left the gun and that the bullet will kill if it strikes someone. man you really know how to hurt someone… and it only took you under 10 min to become so creative… - westendExplorerIn before the lock: The theory that a falling bullet can be lethal was the only theory Mythbusters ever tested that scored-Plausible, Busted, and Confirmed.
The reason it was labeled Confirmed is that an advisor to the show, a professor from Stanford, quoted two accounts where a person had died from the wounds of a falling bullet.
The Mythbuster's falling bullets in larger calibers were embedded 12" deep in the ground.
The physicists are correct, here. If most larger caliber guns have a muzzle velocity of 800-2000 ft.//sec., the falling bullet is down to a tenth or less of that when it hits earth. - Ski_Pro_3Explorer

When a gun is fired "into the air", the projectile climbs to several thousand feet to where gravity overcomes momentum. At that point, said projectile starts back towards earth, gathering speed as it does so.
By the time it reaches the ground it's going about 75% of the speed at which it left the gun's muzzle. Who knows what it will hit? Certainly the dumb-butt who fired "harmlessly" into the air didn't understand the dynamics involved, but he'd be responsible for whatever mayhem the bullet caused.
Firing into the air is NOT!!! harmless.
Someone failed physics class. :S

That is SO not true!
A bullet fired at many times the speed of sound, say 1000m/s will not break the sound barrier, 300m/s after reaching it's terminal speed falling back to earth.
It is rather obvious that the bullet will land at a lower velocity - simple conservation of energy, and second law of thermodynamics.
Mythbusters even did a show on this and proved a typical bullet falls back to earth at about 100mph. In order to prove this, they dropped a bullet into a vertical wind tunnel. The wind had to be at 100mph in order to suspend the bullet in the air. Hence, a bullet will fall at 100mph. Now, will a bullet falling at 100mph (150feet per second) kill or even harm anyone? Mythbusters shot a bullet at 100mph, 150fps, measured with a chronograph, into a pig's head. (From a butcher's not a live pig) The bullet didn't even break the skin. - DiskDoctrExplorer

Agreed, it takes away your advantage, shows you are NOT serious, willing to waste and do stupid things. only one reason to fire. If you cannot get that concept, no business being in the business of being armed.
Dumb@$, both of them. Disgraceful. Fire AND community service with the convicts. How bout the local news report......
HERE
Seems they DID fire in the air.
This camp ground is usually a nice and quiet camp ground. Never have seen any problems.
Booze and Guns don't mix.
booze and stupid (or unstable) people in general don't mix, Ive seen people get stabbed, sliced up with a broken bottle, wacked with pool cues, bats or whatever else was handy, but in general they were idiots before they got drunk, the booze took what little bit of common sence they had left away
