Covering a 5th Wheel for the Winter

I would get the ADCO - I have used if for almost 3 years, and don't have ANY af the issues stated in this thread. Read the directions, cover sharp edges like downspouts and door stops with swim noodles, and remember that the ADCO cover has vents and breaths and won't scratch- tarps don't and will.

Glad you got your 'new' toy covered. The ADCO for ours has more holes then fabric.

Those front decals on yours need covering or they will curl up and peel off though

I personally think that RV covers make a lot of money for the manufacturers of RV covers. They don't hold up to the weather much and seem like a waste of money. You'd be better off finding an enclosed storage facility for your RV as your costs would be similar over a 5-6 year period. And be sure to hope & pray your covered RV doesn't have to experience a hail storm because it will be shredded.

Not true in my case... ;) If I didn't have this cover, can you imagine what my trailer would look like after 11 years of parking under trees... (it took me the first 2 years to figure that out!)

Waste of money for some, but for me, it's been worth it... :) Sure, I'd love to have covered storage for it... Who wouldn't?? But that's not possible with how I have to get the trailer in this spot and too expensive off site..

To each their own and whatever works for you is the way to go!

This will be year 3 for our Calmark Cover. VERY happy with this custom made cover for our 5r.

I live in Western NY, park my rig on pad in yard which is under trees. We get over 100" snow annually. A cover is necessary in my case. About 5 years ago I bought a 20' x 40' heavy duty silver tarp from Tractor Supply Store for around $150. I have mine installed much the same as poncho62, but my tarp also covers about halfway down on each side and the entire roof. It takes some work to install it using lots of rope, but it is extremely tight and secure and is not affected by the wind. No holes after 5 years use. It does not leave marks on the exterior walls. I also have maxair vent covers on all 4 roof vents. I leave each roof vent cracked for ventilation. Never any mold or moisture problems.
I bought a $400 Tyvek type rv cover once and it lasted one season.

As someone else asked: how protected is it from the wind?? A friend parked his trailer with a new cover behind our business, where it was out in the open... the cover made it maybe a month?

My neighbor puts shrink-wrap over the top of his Class C and it holds up great!!

An ADCO will keep both the sun and rain off your RV and keep it looking like new for many years.
People are shocked when I tell them how old our TT is. It's mostly because we keep it covered 6 mos out of very year.
