So too did my friend but If you take a look at his repair you'll see his vinyl floor was likewise "in good shape" other than where it split. He's a very meticulous person and after carefully considering
all the options his decision was to do it right and replace the flooring entirely, deciding that anything less would be ... well, less. :( JMO, but the results speak for themselves. :B
