Deep Fryers

Does anyone bring deep fryers along while "camping"? If so, what do you bring? Just pan/oil over a burner? Or a full blown electric/propane fryer with a drop basket?

    Dang you Donn0128!!

Did you have to mention Pan Fried Chicken!!!!

Well time to throw the 12" cast Iron in the 5er, then ask DW to cook it up. DW has a large kitchen in the 5er and loves to cook, and I don't mind cleaning up after wards.

Yum!!! Pan Fried chicken, my dad loved to cook it, and I surly love to eat it!!
  • I don't fry when we camp. I even pre-fry our bacon at home before we leave. I fry it and put it in a plastic container in the refrig. I don't want the grease mess in the MH.
  • Depends what we are cooking if turkey, deep pot and 3 rigs.Generally if we cook only one turkey we have one deep pot if two or three we use 2 deep pots. If not 2 rigs with baskets and I think 11 qt pots. Fry cutter. Wings.Onion rings. Still trying to get the funnel cake thing working. Everyone gauks while we cook. The oil is reusable about 5 times. A funnel and you can put it back in the container when it cools. When it is used up we burn it in the camp fire one little cup at a time or you can dump it in the oil recycle drum.we only get rid of about a gallon at a time cause we use the big 35 lb containers and after a few big batches we use it for the little pots and dispose of it. Just to be clear we use the +-$60 dollar burners one from bass pro and one from wal mart etc. Northern has 3 gang ones we are eye balling.the small basket types E bay $20.
  • DW has a Fry Daddy we've carried for years when she wants to deep fry something. When she changes the grease it goes in a coffee can to be put in the garbage.

x2 the above and I will add these are not the safest things to have around even at home around the patio...

When camping out in the woods who knows what might come running through the camp sites - maybe a buffalo herd...

You might wipe out a whole camping block with one of those haha...

You certainly get some good fish fries with one however...

We use our favorite hugh and heavy iron skillet for all of these things when camping.

    just my thoughts

Nope. And when you see what a mess it is and the dilemma of how to dispose of the grease when you have to hit the road....you might not either! :B
