Ha ha ha... partially that! But mainly because the aluminum siding doesn't require that luan for structural support. There are 2x2's and luan behind the aluminum that support the roof in the event of a leak. Also, aluminum is easier and cheaper to fix than fiberglass.
Fiberglass does look a lot better though... when it isn't delaminating!
