- RV_CONUSExplorerNope!
No public campground here, but we are still on site and expect to remain until???
We Are not allowed to perform any volunteer duties while the Government is shut down. - TucsonJimExplorer IIJust read in the news (we know how reliable it may or may not be) that all National Park visitors who are already in the parks must leave within 48 hours. No word on hosts yet.
- wepampercampersExploreryour bosses will tell you...hold tight......during the last one, the volunteers were the ones who maintained stability in many locations...... it's not that much changes for us anyway...hahaha, no worry with the pay.....but your liaison will let you know if they are asked to dramatize the situation for the government.
- USA_TravelerExplorerThe Corps region I am in is allowing volunteers to stay, but can not do any work. I am hoping this means they hope this is a short time event and they will still need the volunteers when the parks open again.

This is true with BLM as well. It is up to the Park's management on if Hosts my stay or not, but ALL Hosts in Federal Parks are not allowed to work. - SCRExplorerI was a host in a COE park until 12:01 AM this morning, now I'm security.
- square_dancersExplorerWe Volunteer for the COE here in Branson, Missouri and all parks around Table Rock Lake they control have put the guests on notice they have until Thursday morning to leave. The cleaning and hosting couples have had to redefine their contracts, but they can for the short term remain on site and direct their efforts toward a security role. All parks and boat ramps under the COE control are closed as of Wednesday, October 2, 2013. All employees are to begin furlough as of Thursday, October 3, 2013 and Volunteers such as us can remain on site for now.
- Community AlumniSo to just to ask a question not a suggestion.
What if all the visitors told them to Pound Sand and not leave??
All this is costing some folks a lot of misery.
JimR - mesykesExplorerWe're site hosts at a day use area in a USFWS Refuge and we're allowed to stay. No work, come and go as we wish, just keep the gates closed.

The folks in Glamis where issued notices when they parked in the "Prime" parking areas a week or so before the popular camping weekends. Then the vehicles that apreared to not be camped in where towed.
My guess? Once a couple of huge tow trucks show up, the rest will be moving with greater urgency.
To bad for a couple, say they parked the trailer at the lake, she stays there while he goes back to work during the week. They will have to move pretty soon.
Fred.
