- Big_KatunaExplorer III would check with your state licensing folks or ask a local dealer.
In Florida, they do not need a tag and are covered under your vehicle insurance. Legally kind of a rolling trailer hitch. - zigzagrvExplorerHere in Pennsylvania and, I believe in most if not all states, tow dollies do not require a license. I carry the bill of sale as proof of ownership, but that's all that's required. It is covered by your auto insurance.
- kalynzooExplorerIn Calif the dolly is not a trailer, as the car has the tag...many DMV people don't realize this so you must bring it to the attention of the desk, instead you get a special sticker (usually used for farm equipment, etc) and it is good for 2 to 5 years (not sure). My RV coverage includes towables.

- americanrascalExplorerGeorgia they must be registered and tagged (about $20). Insurance covered by tow vehicle
- mowermechExplorerIn Montana you CAN license a dolly and get a title if you want to, but it is not required.
Insurance is not required.
EDIT: If you do get a license plate, it would be a Trailer plate, so it would be PERMANENT registration. No renewal for as long as you own it! - BusskipperExplorer

Thank you all, Sounds like it's just like the question - A little bit of everything - no wrong answers, just depends on your state, or the state of the Coach.
That will work for me. - BobboExplorer IITag - state dependent. Tennessee will issue a tag and registration if you want, but it is not required. (When I had a tow dolly, from 2007 to 2010, I registered and got a tag the first year, but never renewed it. I did that so the state would have a record that I owned it in case it was ever stolen.)
Insurance - covered by the automotive insurance of the towing vehicle while being towed.
