I have to really laugh at the people that idle a diesel to warm it up. A properly calibrated diesel makes so little heat at idle that it really won't warm up until it is loaded. Once it has lube oil pressure stabilized, an owner is better running at low speed until the temperatures are stable. Then there is the problem that nothing good happens to an idling engine of any kind.
