Total waste and detrimental to the motor. Idling newer diesels is really hard on them. Oil pressure up and stable put it in gear and go. Idling returns you exactly 0 MPG.
Yeah, well that's in contradiction with what's in my owner's manual so I'm going to be ignoring your advice. I also have to idle at least 3 minutes before shutdown.
