Double Towing in Oregon
or is it Triple towing??? No matter.
I've been researching to try to figure out if we'll have a problem with the Idaho Tote on our 5th wheel. Different opinions all over the place. So I decided to go to the source and get an answer in writing. I wrote to Oregon Dept of Transportation who then referred my question to Dept of Motor Vehicles....Below is the email I received back. We CAN tow with the Idaho Tote...it IS legal.......whooo hooo!

Dear Ms. Shultz,
I was asked to respond to your question about the Idaho Tote Dolly.
As I understand it, the tote is welded to the back/frame of the fifth wheel. As such it is not considered a trailer in itself, though it does have its own axle, but is an extension to the fifth wheel. This is not in violation of Oregon’s combination of vehicle laws (Oregon Revised Statute 818.198).
However, the total length of the fifth wheel (vehicle being towed) cannot exceed 45 ft. The total vehicle length (vehicle towing and vehicle being towed cannot exceed 65 ft.
This information was confirmed with Oregon State Police.
If you have any further questions, feel free to email me or contact me at the number listed below.
Sincerely,
Dave Adams
