- 1968mooneyExplorerI pass them on the right, pull to the left in front of them, and then slow to at least 10 mph slower than they are driving. When they move to the right, I speed up to the same speed they are traveling. Lot's of fun game. :Z

I have no problem staying out of the left lane(s) - in fact I abhor the speed demon left lane(s) ... mostly because that's where (nearly) all the speed-idiots drive who think that motion physics don't apply to them.
I call the left lane the "illegal lane." Speeding, tailgating, bullying drivers in front of you..as if it's incumbent on me to pull over so they can speed up to the next car and do the same thing. In heavy traffic it really gets ridiculous when some left-lane psycho wants 150 cars to pull over so he can get by. - drsteveExplorer

In MI at least, the "left lane is for passing only" law is for limited access highways. - JusBudExplorerI get that
But I'm talking a 4 lane hwy where there isn't a side road anywhere for 20 miles.
Then as your passing them by on the right they speed up lol
I was towing my boat back from service yesterday and when I was in the right lane and I was still passing people up on the left.
I feel I'm a conscientious driver in my rv too when towing a trailer and let people by when possible.
I wait till the last car goes by on the left and I move over.
Now I'm passing people on the right lol.

So why do people drive in the left lane?
I see people get on to the highway and immediately get in left lane even when there isn't a road ahead to turn left on.
What taught them to do this?
It's been beat to death on the radio and tv and the news and yet people still do it.
The one that boggles my mind is just two of us on a wide open 4 lane desert hwy and I'm passing someone in the right lane.
Likely because you only need to deal with others on your right. If on a two lane the right lane deals with traffic to the left, and merging traffic to the right.
On a three lane the middle needs to deal with traffic on both sides.
I really don't like towing in the right lane, while I do it on a two lane highway, too many people don't know how to merge. I love the ones that don't look to their left until they are ready to pull over and then there is a 60' TV and trailer next to them! - JusBudExplorerSo why do people drive in the left lane?

The bad part about driving in Germany is when you are doing 200 kph and the semi that you want to pass pulls into the left lane at 80 kph cause he pass another semi doing 79 kph...
Hmmmm .... #1 IMHO, the bad part about driving in Germany when you are doing 200 kph is driving at 200 kph. #2 IMHO, that's absurd on public roads anywhere on Earth no matter what the vehicle is and what it took for the driver to get their license.
#3 IMHO, the most concerning thing is not that many folks don't want to slow up and smell the roses anymore ... it's that many folks may not even know what roses are anymore.
And yet, as previously posted, the statistics say it’s FAR safer driving in Germany than it is in the US.
So then maybe the ‘absurd’ part is a nation of 222 million licensed drivers who have no follow up education or review of their driving habits.
You get your license at 16 and drive (almost) the rest of your life with nobody following up or checking that you can actually drive in a safe manner!
Wow! Unbelievable! - mjbenedictExplorer

Usually have plenty of space and I noticed that semi drivers in Germany actually look in their rearview mirrors before pulling into the left lane. They would wait until you passed. At least the ones I saw.

Personally I don't consider sitting in my car in traffic or trying to get to where I'm headed as "quality time". My "quality time" starts after I get to my destination. The less time in the car means more time on the motorcycle. - pnicholsExplorer II
