In respect to thru-bolting snap-up brackets to a tube style TT A-frame...., I can state that my snap-ups have been thru-bolted (w/backer plate) for almost 7 years on my '05' Jayco 6" tall tube A-frame without incident. My loaded tongue weight is 1,300lbs, and I have a 1,500lb rated WDH (trunnion style) with the Reese HP Dual Cam (1st "HP" version).
Last year I noticed that one of the four original Reese supplied forming screws at the Dual Cam Frame Plate wasn't holding the recommended torque after 7 years, so I also thru-bolted (w/backer plate) the two Frame Plates:
Note: 1/2-13 jam-nut was re-installed after pic was taken.
