Look for a resettable circuit breaker between the converter and the battery bank, or even internal to the converter. I saw this on a Monaco several years ago and the rep rate you describe is exactly the cycle we saw. The breaker was under rated for the load it was charging or supplying.
IIRC the charger was 60A, and the breaker was 40A, pulling close to 60 through it. A trip to NAPA Auto the following morning fixed it.
