Extend a shower curtain for a motor home

I know they make a extend rod for a trailer or fifth wheel but I am looking for one that fits a stand in shower for a motor home. Presently the curtain sits in a track mounted on the ceiling with a opening of 30". It would be great to have a little extra elbow room.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

  • If your flimsy show curtain gets sucked in when showering an easy fix is to buy a better/heavier shower curtain. We buy one with a clear top to allow in light. It is sold by Hospi-Tel and is their Clearview line.
  • Here's the cheap and easy fix I did in my previous motorhome that had a shower curtain. I took two spring clips (like the kind that holds a pile of paper together) and a length of string. Tied each clip to each end of the string. Before my shower I would attach one clip to the middle of the shower curtain, about your elbow height. I attached the other end clip to something on the opposite wall. So essentially the string is pulling the shower curtain out a little. Makes a huge difference while taking a shower. In my case, I was able to wind the opposite end around my toilet paper holder on the opposite wall.

    Try it, you'll like it!
  • they make at least two that I can think of, which one that will work for you is up to you. at wally world and other stores they have one that is curved and not adjustable. rv stores have one that is hinged in two places to expand out, the wider the opening in the shower the less elbow room you will get.
  • What I did in mine was to use a expandable curtain rod and attached it to the wall on both sides of the shower and put the shower curtain over it, this gave me about an extra 6 inches of elbow room.

The shower curtain was still long enough to fit into the shower pan so the water didn't run out on the floor, just experiment with it or get a longer shower curtain. Worked for me, just a thought..............:B
