Falling off step from rear of RV to kitchen area

After over 40 year of RV'ing in everything from a conversion van to a Class A we downsized to a Class C with bunk beds to accomidate our dogs and grandkids. The only problem is that twice my wife has forgotten about the step from the rear to the kitchen and fallen down, once necessitating a trip to the emergency room. I have thought about building a little ramp and just keeping the curtain closed as a reminder of the step. Knowing that only the most intelligent people read these forums, I'm asking for ideas that have been successful for you. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
  • You could put a strip of neon orange hi-vis tape on the portion where she normally steps up and down. Not the best-looking solution but better than an ER trip.

Or... try a strip of ELECTROLUMINSCENT WIRE.

I'm like your wife, would need a BIG reminder of the step. I probably shouldn't buy a RV that has one of those!

  • You know all those welcome signs RVers make? Make one to sit at the step. One side should read "step down", the other side "step up". Keep it in the middle of the step. After a few months, the step will become second nature to her. Until then, she won't be able to miss it.
  • Could you put a strip of LED lights at hte edge of the step and just leave them on all the time? That way you wouldn't have to build or modify anything and it would look like a "feature".
