Finding work

I am a workamper in Connecticut. I will be staying at the campground year round. I am finding it impossible to find work. Any hints on how to find a part time job?

If I was looking for work I would go to the local library and look at ads all over the country in the newspaper. I have never been without a job. I had more work than I ever wanted. However, my home state is Michigan. When I was 17 I kind of looked aroun and found nothing. My humble advise is to go where the jobs are. I traveled to WA then to CA. If you are in an RV seems like moving would be easy.

We've also moved cross country to find work. Now DH's employer sends him to multiple states. Sometimes, we go back to a previous location. We are nearly recession proof by moving where the jobs are.

Pick a state with a lower unemployment rate than CT to see if there's anything.

One of my sons found his job through indeed.com. Another found his networking.
  • I would try Home Depot and Lowes. They are very friendly to part timers.
How about fast food? Supermarkets. Tough to help if we don't know your skills and experience. Sadly job market isn't too hot. Maybe move? Amazon is hiring work campers in various locations.
  • Many employers are going thru temp agencies now to hire their workers. Have you tried signing up thru temp agencies for regular work?

  • I hate to say this but if there isn't any work other than workcamper you'll probably have to move if you want additional income.
  • You do not fit my definition of a workamper. You are living year round in one spot. Where you live just happens to be a RV. Therefore, you should approach your job search just like any citizen who lives permanently in one spot (which you do).
  • As long as you're staying there year-round, don't waste your time working in the campground for minimum wage or less. Find a decent paying job in the nearest town.
