Firearms in RV

The public parks I frequent don't allow firearms in the park. But, I suppose if you kept it in the camper how would they even know it was in there.

I believe the laws change when you are driving and when you are camped.
You can certainly look up the details. I wouldn't trust my freedom on someone's interpretation here.
MIKE--The same book tells which states honor your permit and which don't. Most do but don't trust your freedom .......

Common sense has nothing to do with gun laws. They are politically driven. Many LEO and many people miss understand all the laws. They also change often resulting in more confusion.

In WA state, you can't keep a LOADED weapon in a motor vehicle without a CWP..

But, if it's in a TRAVEL TRAILER, I don't know that anyone would ever find out, unless you are crossing a boarder into Canada or Mexico??

In that case, you can't even take a pistol into Canada at all... No matter where it is stored..

I carry my .357 mag pistol LOADED in TT or my truck, but I have a CWP as does my wife... :)

If I wanted to cross the boarder, I can't take it anywhere.

If I want to go to the East Coast, I'd just leave it in the TT and "don't ask, don't tell"... I know there are only a few states that will actually "acknowledge" my CWP in their state, so I'd need to read up on that and unload my pistol while in transit accordingly..

An UNLOADED weapon in any unaccessable part of the vehicle from the driver is usually OKAY, just as long as you can LEGALLY own a firearm..

I remember in high school in the late 70's, we had kids with those rifle gun racks in the back of their pickup trucks with RIFLES in them!! But that was a long time ago in a land far away and you can't do that anymore, anywhere... :)

Most states have some form of "Castle Doctrine" whereas you may have a gun in your home for protection. Federal laws also allow you to transport weapons from one home to another if properly stored. Your trailer is considered your second home so federal laws say you may have a gun there. After all this it boils down to where you are and who is interpreting the law. You would have to be a real ass to an officer for him to bother to get a warrant to search your trailer(home) without cause. "I do not carry hand guns in my trailer but I do have a safe for valuables that I often forget the combination for." ;) Traveling out of the US is another story ... You must respect the laws of the countries you visit.

Are there any states that don't consider the RV your home?

this last spring I had to move 6 long guns and 3 hand guns from Redding Ca. to so. Oregon and I went to the CHP office and asked how can I transport them in my truck.
The long guns in the back seat uncovered and the amo in the back end
( I have a camper shell )NO amo in the same area as the guns.
Hand guns are a little different you have to lock the hand guns in a container with out amo and the clips, put the amo in a differ place than the guns.
I was holding them for friends as they went into a assisted living home than after things were settled I returned them for sale.
Always check the states that you are going to be in for the regulations.

If no one ever sees it, is there one in there? When are you asked if there is a gun in your RV? How often do you plan on using it? Or better yet, how often have you used one?
