- j-dExplorer III went to "build and price" for 2017 Canyon, and it seems the opposite is true, in a convoluted way... The six-speed manual isn't available with 4WD so there's no way to get it into neutral with two-speed transfer case and all that to allow it to be towable.
To the OP, that page, gOOgle "2017 gmc canyon", offers "chat with specialist" and I'd guess s/he will confirm that GM doesn't want any Colorado/Canyon truck towed unless it has the Two Speed Transfer Case With Neutral, and those trucks are offered with only an Eight Speed Automatic Transmission. All ya gotta do is give GM about $8000 more... - imgoin4itExplorerProbably don't make this truck with a manual transmission.

You can look at the Canyon's owner's manual and it says the same thing.
and that is the exact reference that should be used.

Then use it. No one is stopping you or telling you otherwise.
no need to get angry. and I am not the one needing to know.

bumpy - RVMikeExplorerThat's why I bought a 2016 Nissan Frontier. It was the only available truck with the v6 and 6speed. Just put in neutral and key to first click to unlock wheel. No fuses to pull and mileage does not show.
- j-dExplorer III tried to dig through the owner manual info and my only guess is that the manual shift truck doesn't offer a 4WD, or a 4WD that shifts to neutral. Manual does say you can back a 2WD onto a dolly and tow it backwards So Long As you use an aftermarket steering wheel keeper. I don't know if dolly manufacturers endorse that or not, most RVers do not.

Everything I read says yes to the auto (with conditions) and no to the manual.
closely read limits/restrictions.
I am "assuming" that is a GM document?

2017 Family Motor Coaching magazine - January 2017 issue - taken directly from manufacturer's info.
Look here.
is there something there that indicates that it is a gm document?
bumpy
No. Information is compiled directly from manufacturer's documents and published as a convenience. Take it or leave it.
