Bob, you are one in a million. I'm hear is South Louisiana and evacuations are almost the norm in late August. It is wonderful how everyone comes together in the wake of a hurricane.
I will keep you in mind for a storm headed north west. Usually we just head north and worry about finding a campground once we get far enough north. For Gustav we stayed the 1st night in a WM parking lot in Brookhaven, MS which took 12hr to get to, then continued on the next day to Coffeville, AL.
Everyone in the campground was an evacuee and all pitched in to help each other, it was just like being at home.
