We have stored our Weber propane grill and Coleman stoves in our basement pass-through storage continuously over the last 9 years and haven't had any problems associated with critters. We do clean them to an extent but they still have some residual food particles, like most we don't always have the time to get them perfectly clean after every use. Other than keeping the basement storage doors closed we have no secret method for keeping the smallest (ants) to the largest (bears) critters out. I guess we been lucky if this is a common occurrence for others.
