Gate Valve question

My grey tank gate valve is leaking. I pulled it out this afternoon and it seems that the gaskets are the source of the issue. Is there an easy way to put the valve back and ensure the gsskets are seated properly. I cannot get the pipes apart wide enough to slide it in without the gaskets aligning properly. I know there's a simple solution I just can't think of it.
Thanks for the help and have a safe weekend,

Took me less than a minute with this

Probably a better price from Amazon.

If the remote valve is broken in the "closed" position it won't help until you get it into the "open" position.

Depending on where the valve is located - that can be very easy or a genuine "PITA"..:(

And *WAY* more than a minute just to access it!..:R

However - an excellent item to carry (I do) if you need it..;)

When faced with the same problem I cut the pipe and use an MJ coupler.

I don't know what a "MJ coupler" is but when I replaced my grey water valve I also did not have any "give" in the pipe, but I cut the pipe several inches from the valve to get some clearance to work and put the pipe back together with a Fernco rubber fitting which is a rubber repair coupling and it grips the pipe with hose clamps that go around the ends of the rubber coupling. I picked mine up at Homo Depot for a couple of bucks. And if you need to work on that valve again the Fernco comes apart easily.

I think this is my best route. I've used these on the stick and brick when running my sewage line to the rv pad. Thanks for correcting my brain fart.

A ratchet strap and carefully pry it open enough to slip the blade in. Be sure to use lots of plumbers grease.

And if you don't have plumbers grease on hand, dish soap will work, as will a water soluble lubricant like K-Y or similar.
