yesterday while loading the cart into the truck. Lost traction and the rear wheels started spinning on the ramps, it was slightly damp (stupid me), slid, ramps slid, then the cart and ramps fell to the ground... yea, with me on it. Yes, the ramps were strapped down, they still slid and kicked out.. super dangerous, if it would have rolled over I would have been seriously hurt or killed. so, I am re-evaluating my method for golf cart loading.. If one little thing goes wrong, you are very likely to be on the ground.

Personally..I would be re-evaluating the need for the dang golf cart :BGlad you weren't hurt....either time!Had similar problem loading motorcycles in truck.Ramps not were very stable on the end of tail gate...removed the cables on each side of tailgate, dropped it down and then set ramps on bed/edge of tail gate.

The video makes it look simple but does not show how he gets the golf cart over the wheel wells, either loading or unloading. I am thinking that there may be an opportunity for a fabricator to make a lightweight loading platform that allows the wheels of the cart to remain above the wheel wells and provide a system to both store and attach the ramps safely. Also, if the winch location needs to be elevated so it is not pulling down while the cart is trying to go up over the wheel wells. IMHO JH

There are a couple other solutions, but definatly more expensive than what the OP did. I'm guessing the problems occured when trying to get over the wheel wells. The first way would be to take the P/U bed off and put a flat bed on and the other would be to use one of these decks that load themselves. The decks are a great way to carry two snowmachines or four wheelers on the back of a pick-up. A friend uses one to carry his Polaris Razor side by side on his pick-up which is also his toad.Loading Deck ClickyBill

Thanks for the comments, the wheel wells are not an issue for me, The cart goes inbetween them just fine. The issue is going up the ramps.

I like the idea of the winch and thought about that when taking our golf cart in the back of the truck. Never had the issue you did, but only had done it a few times. We now take our golf cart on a utility trailer that we pull behind the SUV. Since the TT is stored at the beach and where we take e golf cart to.

I painted my car-carrier ramps with textured deck paint...got it at a boat-supply shop. Cost a bit more than grip-tape, but it will last forever!

Take a look at 4 wheeler adds, have seen a flat ramp that fits the width of trailer then folds up to a single ramp width. No more worries about slipping off..My ramp is made on trailer and folds straight up..

SD State Parks are on the virge of allowing golf car use. When used as transportation, by responsible people, and not as a joy ride in any park I think it is a good idea.
Load & unload is more of a danger to you than to other campers.
Please respect that a golf car is a vehicle, as such limit it to road & trail use. Keep it off the grass!
