Thanks for the tips. I did not have safety tape on my ramps and in retrospect that's the first thing I should have added to them after I bought them.
I did have the ramps tied to the truck but I used the safety chain loops on the receiver as the attachment point. Maybe this was a mistake.
In the past I had tied the ramps down by attaching one end of the ratchet strap to the ramps and the other to the lower lip of the bumper. Perhaps I will return to this technique. I changed because I was afraid if the strap moving on the lower lip of the bumper.
Maybe I should attach some eyelets to attach the straps straight on to the bumper.
