I was told yesterday that the Good Sam board of directors have cancelled the "Standby Sams" program.Was told it was cancelled due to lack of use.#1 I would think lack of use in this circumstance is a GOOD thing! #2 I'm sure most members wouldn't think of reporting to the club that they used it. Two years ago we made a run to Dallas TX. I printed out the Standby Sams in the states I was going thru knowing help from people with knowledge about rv's was a phone call away.I for one feel the board should rethink their position on this and reinstate the program.I'm in the planning process for a trip to Florida and would sure like to have a list again.If you agree. Please contact Good Sam Club and let them know.C.B.

Remember, The goal is "The Profit".There is no real opportunity to make a sale based on you being helped for free by another private individual. I believe these forums would not exist anymore if CW could not use them to advertise their products and services.

I agree with you to a degree.BUT.This is also a perk which helps keep me as a member, buy from Camping World, and staying at Good Sam RV parks. (Which I'm going to be using to Florida & back.)C.B.

Interesting. I had never heard of this.In the new world, it's a lot like the "Be My Eyes" app - where you blind people can use an app on their smart phone and request help from a volunteer.In fact, this could make for a pretty neat social app, if people would sign up as volunteers.

There goes my twenty year pin for standing around.

Same- some made me feel good. One left me feeling icky... helping a guy find dog **** in an urban dog park! But still felt helpful, just ... you know!

It isn't your parents Good Sam Club. The current management of Good Sam Enterprises has adulterated it to the point of being almost unrecognizable. If a program doesn't make money it is dropped, forget the day when the club was run for the benefit of the members.

Doesn't much matter since they are likely to be bankrupt soon.

I can Think of several possible issues.
For example.. I am fairly knowledgeable on several RV systems In no small part cause my rig is 14 years old and it's not my first older RV. so I've studied at the school of hard knocks.

But I'm not certified (I likely could be but have never written the test).

THis means is Good Sam's suggests a "Standby Sam" and they give you bad advice. Well in today's "Let's get paid" world. Liability is a witch.
