Great climb!

Should have done it on my bike! Highway 191 between Price & Duchesne Utah. GMC pulled the trailer fine. Great scenery! That's a hill!
  • If you're going on north from Vernal, you'll see an even better climb. :)
  • We did that trip, from Price to Vernal a few weeks ago. I thought that it was one of the tougher pulls that we've encountered. Lot's of heavy haul trucks grinding up the hill at 10 MPH.

And the downhill was a treat too, no major issues, everything worked fine, tranny temp and water temp were all in specs.

Beautiful country. I didn't know they had so much oil infrastructure in that area.
  • I did this one with my 5er in tow. By accident.

You might know it as the Teton Pass.

I had smoke coming from the truck brakes. :E

This was my combo at the time.

Temp gauge at the top of the pass....it was a slow climb with plenty of traffic and sharp turns to slow us down.

  • If I started down that ib516 it would be at 15MPH at the top ,exhaust brake all the way. That is some serious stuff you show in that picture.
  • I may be a little odd, but I quite enjoy towing up or down a nice grade! Much more interesting than just tooling along on flat ground. That one is a good one.

That same road between Vernal and Dutch John is full of steep hills and lots of elevation gain.

For some great bike roads try US-191 between St Johns and Clifton ,AZ. Nothing but switch backs for 90 miles. For that reason I wouldn't recommend pulling a RV through that section. Just the bike.

    bicycle or motor bike?
  • Bicycle - I don't think my DW would pull the trailer up and then wait 3 - 4 hours for me to climb it. Maybe some day when we are camping in the area.
