Stick your hand in it and tell me it isn't real! :B The fire is the same, it is only the fuel that is different. At $5 a handful for campground wood, the LPG almost looks cheap. - mdaExplorerHave had mine for several years now. It is great for an evening campfire without all the nonsense of starting a fire. You can set it up minutes and use it as low long as you want, then shut it off. It's not a real campfire, but it does a nice job for its purpose.

I greatly prefer a good ol wood campfire as well. But many RV parks and resorts do not allow any wood fires. This is especially true in dry forest areas or on windy red flag days. They do however allow propane. Little Red Campfire is better than no fire at all. - pnicholsExplorer IIOur traveling companions got a new but rebuilt one last winter at Quartzite for $75. Like brand new, in orginal box, and works great as far as I know. The guy selling them had several at that price.
- NolanExplorerI wish more people would go to propane campfires. Then my wife and I can enjoy being outside to having our windows open when it's cool outside without getting the nasty smell and smoke from wood burning campfires in our home.
- JiminDenverExplorer IIWe didn't get the Little red as after years of fire bans had made them a pretty popular item. Lowes had a slightly larger pit for $99 that we got last year.
Besides the bans we found it nice for the first night when we hadn't collected wood yet. On those not so nice nights where the wind was up or it could start raining at any minute, even when we wanted a fire but knew we didn't feel like being out there long enough it was nice to be able to shut it of and go inside no hassles.
When I saw the Little red I though wow how small but I've read that like ours, once the light go out all you see is the fire, not the pit. We even drop ours into the stone pits and from a few feet, you can't tell it's propane.
There is also the Big red for those that need bigger. - beemerphile1ExplorerDon't buy at those prices, odds are you will find it under $100 in the next month or so.
I bought one last December for $90 and free shipping at Amazon.
We didn't use ours till this October. The temperatures were about 30 degrees. I erected our shelter with three wind walls and put Lil Red in the center. It worked great to keep us warm and we were able to sit out comfortably each evening.
I absolutely love the easy on, easy off of Lil Red. We will be using it more in the future. - rseymour21ExplorerI understand about liking a wood burning fire better, but smoke bothers my wife. So I got one of these a couple years ago, its certainly better than no fire! I've ever roasted some marshmallows on it! And when I go inside for the night or need to leave camp, this fire is out quick!
- RoyBExplorer III just never got on the band wagon "Little Red Campfire" Propane Camp Fire. Being trained from the tent camping days of the 60s I guess I am forever a wood fed firepit guy. Its not just the flicker or the heat but the smell of wood burning. Absolutely nothing wrong with this type of camp fire just one's choice of what he likes best.
Everything is slowly being taken away from us in the name of user friendly... Makes one wonder where all of this is leading too.
One needs to be doing something all the time as well... Poking this and poking that haha...
My memories go back to the days of waking up to an early sunrise with red rocks canyons rock formations of Sedona AZ being lit up by the sun sitting around a wood bon-fire drinking my first cup of fresh ground bean coffee. Good Morning campers...
Me thinks I am getting camping fever already and its 25 cold degrees outside this morning here in Northern neck Virginia..
