Grills that hang on the side wall of the trailer

had the RVQ on a Jayco MH for 8 seasons--loved it!!!

new rig has the Side Kick--it's ok but not as thick metal as the RVQ--used it only once so far--but overall never a problem with excessive heat or wandering grease...

cool, thanks, so far i love it, you can get quite a bit on it, i like to grill the hamburger buns on that top rack!

I use mine all of the time under the awning with no issues.

Same one I use. Works very well and big. I think about 220 sq inches.

i have no idea what "brand" grill came with our TT but i have used it on each trip (3) since we got it and have made sure to check the heat on the trailer each time, it does get warm but not enough to concern me yet, no sign of grease on the trailer from cooking but this last trip i did get some "black" on the TT while cleaning the grill, learned my lesson and will clean it away from the trailer from now on

as far as how it cooks, i love it, heats well, cooks even and no excessive smoke, at least yet

The RV Q which came with the Seneca has worked well for seven years. No smoke or grease problems on the rig. With or without the awning.

For me the issue isn't so much that it's close to the camper, though that can present smoke issues inside as noted here. I do like the idea of a built in stand/bracket for the grill. However, more important for me is that each campsite is different and there are times there may not be room to cook at a permanent contact point on my rig. Too many factors like wind (ESPECIALLY wind,) picnic table location, Where everyone is congregating, etc., etc. can also determine it's a bad place to grill at that particular spot. I have a folding portable grill stand and much prefer that so I can grill wherever I want to and not be restricted to just the side of my rig. Of course whatever works for the individual is the best way!

I've always been of the opinion (mine) that flames of any sort don't belong next to Filon and under an awning. That's just me though, many folks use them with no problems and I suspect that if there was a large issue with them, the trailer manufacturers wouldn't use them. They could still provide the grill, but, make the user use a table.

I bought and converted a Weber Q120 to use the low pressure port and I have an assortment of hoses that if connected end to end would let me move the grill 48' away (I use some of the hoses for my Campfire-in-a-Can, that's why so many). I can move the grill out from under the awning and away from windows no matter which way the wind is blowing. Sometimes I put the grill on the picnic table if it isn't under the awning or I have a compact aluminum folding table that fits the Q120 perfectly.

If you want to use the grill under the awning and hanging on the trailer, I'd go ahead and do it, but, grills smoke (smoke contains grease) and they get hot (heat is not good for Filon) and I can't convince myself that no grease gets on the side of the trailer or the underside of the awning (I have a grill on my covered deck and there is grease on the underside of the roof and on the heat shield behind it and the heatshield gets quite warm), so, I don't do either.
