Happy snow bird here !

Yesterday we got rid of our black water tank and are now hard plumbed to the sewer and have a residential toilet.
No more chemicals and dumping once a week !

I guess that works ok in Florida.
I did spend one of the coldest camping nights I remember, near Tallahassee on the way to the Florida Citrus Bowl. Woke up to 15 degrees on Dec. 27. I couldn't get my 50 amp cord rolled up. Managed to get it coiled up enough to get it in the bed of my truck.

Tampa and Orlando were great, though. Lows 70+/-.

The black water tank is gone, but the valve is still there. I will wire it to stay open until we leave for the north, and then I will close them both

Only potential problem I can see is that, if you have a clothes dryer stand pipe the odor from the sever will work its way back into the rv. I know this from experience. We had a combination washer dryer and left the gray water valve open. The sewer odor worked its way back into the W/D closet. That stand pipe has no trap to block the odor backup.

I know this is semi-relevant. Bought my first fifth wheel from a guy who said he kept the rv parked in the same spot all season. He had an elaborate setup of split tubing, Y connectors and stands to keep his gray and black water tanks constantly open to the sewer. He only kept the fifth wheel for that one season and I found out why. He had several tools for unstopping the toilet.

On our first trip we thought all of our tanks were empty but the black water stopped flowing the first day. I discovered that he had left a build up of toilet paper and poop under the toilet. He had obviously treated the rv like a park model, thinking he could leave the black water outlet open. Somebody forgot to tell him not to do this. I, then understood why he got rid of the fiver. I finally broke up the mountain and all went well, thereafter. I never dreamed that anybody got out the dealer's door without a first-timer's warning.

  • Did you get one of those terlits that opens when you walk up to it? And closes when you leave?
Sadly they can't yet determine intent, but I bet it won't be long.

Does limit your traveling, right? A truly satisfying throne.

Did our traveling when we were younger -Alaska three times and all over the rest of the good old USA and Canada and most of the National parks.
Now we just snow bird here in Key Largo for six or seven months each year and do our exploring in our kayaks here and in the Everglades National park.
At this old age the only thing I'll tow is our baby pop up which is used as our base camp.
