- hotbyteExplorerMade ours from thin wall PVC and EMT.
My generator exhaust is also under slide so I made a short extension from a piece of EMT and coupler. With slide in, I leave extension off. With slide out, use extension and it work perfect.
Instead of mounting hooks into side of camper, I run a length of small diameter rope and 2 bungee cords to the slide awning arms.
As stated, hey work great for diverting exhaust. - pnicholsExplorer IIThanks for responding on your use of a Genturi. That's the kind of info I was curious about.
Related to the fumes issue you mentioned:

Remember you might have you windows closed but there are weep holes and the exhaust goes up the wall and seeps right in thru there and if the wind blows it goes right under your RV and we all know how well sealed (not) the underbelly of RV's are. The exhaust 'does' come in the coach.
We solved that by always closing all windows and roof vents whenever we run the generator for any length of time ... except for the roof vent with a multi-speed reversible fan in it. We switch the fan to blow air in and turn it on at it's lowest speed. This maintains a slight pressure inside the interior, which makes it impossible for any generator fumes from entering the coach through any opening, no matter how small. This works real well - the air remains fresh inside the coach while the genny is running, even hour after hour in hot weather for air conditioning. - rockhillmanorExplorer II

Do any of you who use a Genturi see much advantage in using it when NOT in crowded camping conditions?
In other words, how about boondock camping with your RV being the only one around and you want to run your air conditioner for several hours in the middle of the day ... even if your built-in generator is well installed in that it's not under a slide, and has relatively low noise and vibration levels inside the coach?
I've thought about buying one but never followed through because we very rarely camp in close quarters with other RVs.
Absolutely! I use mine when ever the gen is on. Gen on, genturi on.
If you look at the gen exhaust on RV's it's almost even with the edge of the wall of the RV. That exhaust runs right up the side of the wall. Could never understand why the manuf do that.

The genturi gets rid of that faint smell of exhaust that is always present in your coach when you run the gen.
I used to get headaches all the time, wrote it off to doing too much at the sporting events I go to. I also used to nap on the couch same side as the gen, duh. Well.....once I started using the Genturi the headaches completely stopped. It was from the gen exhaust.:R - pnicholsExplorer IIDo any of you who use a Genturi see much advantage in using it when NOT in crowded camping conditions?

But after using it without the hooks and jury rigging stuff to hold it up firmly in place, I took the plunge and drilled 2 very small holes to accommodate the hooks.
No leaks, no rust, no problem, even several years later. Just sorry I waited so long to do it! :C - PatrickA51Explorer

Genturi works great. Just make sure the exhaust outlet is in a place that will allow the Genturi to be mounted vertically. We had use it on our previous rig just fine. We are having a generator installed in the new rig, and the typical location for the exhaust is directly under a slide, making the use of the Genturi in that location impossible. I'll have to have the exhaust run much further towards the rear to the first area the Genturi can be installed and not interfere with other equipment.

I had to have the exhaust pipe from the generator re-route. Because we have a window owning, and the exhaust pipe came right out under the window.
Works well now. You will need to use the mounting hooks that are included for the up pipe. - wa8yxmExplorer IIII too will talk again about how HOT the pipe gets.
On several occasions I have demonstrated by simply holding the pipe in my hand while the Generator is running.. I have often take it off with the generator running.. I use pliers to pull the pin, then lift the top stack off with bare hands, unhook the "Shock cords" and "kick" the metal pipe out of the adapter.. Leather shoe, not a tennis shoe. By the time I get the top 2 sections in the bag the bottom is cool enough to bag.
I'm not sure I'd want to try that with a drain eves drain pipe even though the law of physics that keeps the black pipe cool should still apply. But metal conducts heat and that.. concerns me. - VeebyesExplorer IIAs one who has been on the receiving end of a genturi, it is much appreciated. I am not a genny fan at the best of times however at big events close parking is what it is & anything that can be done to mitigate exhaust smell is a good thing.
- STBRetiredExplorerHave a Genturi and it works great. The genny exhaust came out under the bedroom window awning so had to move it. They sell a 3 foot 90 degree extension which worked perfectly to route the exhaust behind the window. They also sell suction cups that you can use instead of gluing the support clips to the side of the rig. They work well and have not had any issues with damage to the MH side from the suction cups.
- rockhillmanorExplorer III have had a Genturi for years now. won't leave home RV'ing with out it.
DIY projects of an exhaust pipe using a gutter etc. is IMHO very dangerous.
Genturi pipes have patented stacks that are NOT hot to the touch.
Using gutters, etc ARE hot and dangerous. If someone walking past your MH touches it they will get burned and it can burn the side of you MH. Just saying.
Also the Genturi has a patented attachment exhaust pipe that does NOT restrict the flow to the gen which is very important for the longevity of your gen.Air intake opening
