Hitch setup change, F150 to F350

In a couple weeks we are going on a trip from Wisconsin to the Rushmore and the Black Hills of SD. For the trip I am going to barrow my parents F350 dually diesel instead of using my F150. I started thinking about the hitch setup, mine is the Reese Dual Cam and the camper has about 1000lbs of tongue weight. Currently with my F150 I have the hitch head set on 1, which is the most tilt that the head can have, and 5 chain links on the bars.

I know that I am not going to have to transfer as much weight when using dads truck (wheel base almost 2 ft longer, much heavier motor, stiffer suspension, ect), so I was thinking about moving hitch head to 2 or maybe 3 and the same 5 links. Or should I leave the hitch head alone and just drop a link or 2?

Does anyone have any suggestions or input?
  • You would use the same setup. My concern is that you are not following the directions on what the head tilt is to do. It might be best to start from scratch.
