Hot Water Heater

We turn ours on when we will need hot water. It only needs maybe 20 minutes until we can shower.

If you want to turn yours on and leave it on, that is fine also.

I turn mine on when I retire for the night. I turn it off after my shower but before daughters take theirs. Saves water usage that way.

We don't keep ours on for economic reasons. AFAIK there is no danger in leaving it on full time. If you want hot water at any time, leave it on. Otherwise, why not save the propane.

Don't have to but it is what most of us do.

For me a couple of reasons.
Can't see heating water over and over and over again all day for nothing but eating up your propane. RV's have small propane tanks and small hot water heaters.....heat and eat propane that's what they do.

And because the tank is small it only takes a few minutes to heat up for a shower. Takes all of 2 minutes out of your life to turn it on before you know you are going to shower!

Second reason is all you have to experience, just ONCE, is the thermostat going out on a HWH while you are away and you won't ever leave the hot water heater on ever again when you are away. When the thermostat goes and heats your water tank AND the side of your MH to over 400 degrees ready to blow and burn? Nope I leave mine off!:W

That is what we do. First one up in morning turns it on. When done with breakfast and the like shut it off. Stays hot most of day. Turn it back on around dinner time then off.
This would be different if we had a pilot light version lit from the outside. We would leave it on.

That's the way we use it. Seems pretty easy. Put it on before showering, shut if off part way through, and put it on before a major dish washing. Breakfast dishes are few, so a kettle part full gives enough hot water in about two minutes.

Why keep 6 gallons of how water cycling off and on all the time?

Then again, if you have an electric heater and are not on a meter.. enjoy as much as you want.

I think it saves a little propane and I'd just as soon not hear it cycling needlessly at night. I'm in the camp who uses it as needed. But I don't think it is a big deal either way.
