In our trailer. We specifically bought a unit with washer/dryer capabilities. Doing a small load every day is not a big deal. Start it first thing in the morning and it runs while we are gone. Done when we get home. Just hate to waste vacation time sitting in some dank laundromat.
Same here. We full-timed for a little over two years in a fifth wheel that was equipped with a Splendide washer/dryer. It worked great. For larger items we used the campground laundry.
If we ever go full timing again, I would definitely want a washer/dryer in the RV! - EycomExplorerSeldom do I stay in commercial parks. But, if they have on-premise facilities, I use them. Most often, I find myself in public laundromats which i find via an air card and computer.
- navegatorExplorerWhen I started "RVing" I had a 1968 VW bus with a cargo rack and I would tie a paint bucket with a lid, inside would be some water with detergent and some items to be washed, this would slossh arround while I travelled down the road, later I would empty the soapy water and ad frah water for a rince, a few rinses latter down the road, clean clothes, set camp attach string to tree and hang laundry overnight.
Today we use the laundromat at the RV campground or a laundromat in the town if there is one, if not available the shower pan works, we have a hangig bar that is attached to the ceiling with those hooks that you would normally use for brooms with spring latch, we hang the cloths from there on coat hangers.
navegator - Jayco-noslideExplorerLaundry is one of the joys(not) of being on the road. We take enough clothes to last about 9 days and usually do it about once a week. Campground laundries can be convenient because you don't have to drive somewhere and can be economical in state park campgrounds; however, they often only have 1 washer, 1 drier to a loop. Campground hosts will alway know where the closest and nicest laundromats are.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerWe plan our weekly midweek stops at a campground that has laundry, like commercial campgrounds and KOA. Seldom have we had to find a coin laundry.
- Road_RunnersExplorerIt is no problem to find a laundromat most anywhere in the United States. Just ask the casher at the filling station or any local where it is. They will tell you. It is no big deal. Laundromats are everywhere in a town of any size and even some small towns.
- 2hamsExplorerThere are a couple of POI laundry files that we have on our Garmin GPS. We have not had to use them. Typically wash about once a week. Prefer to use campground laundry if clean. Stayed at one campground in Montana that had nasty dryers but nice clothesline - wish there were more like that. Wash is a down day, and chance to read or visit with other campers for a couple of hours. Also have had good luck asking camp host/owner for laundromat recommendation.
As to how - I sort in camper and stuff dirties into the collapsible hamper. Gather clothes, quarters, soap, cell, book and walk or drive to laundry. Put soap, clothes, quarters in washer, put book in front of face, move clothes to dryer, put book in front of face, fold clothes, call DH for ride back to site, open a beer. Too obvious, huh?
Also save quarters year round, when they start to pile up, time to go again. - TothillExplorerYou do not need a app to find laundromats, you already have access to the yellow pages online.
We do small loads at campground facilities, but they tend to only have one or two machines. We have a family of 4. I would rather find a large laundry and do all the laundry at once in multiple machines.
If in a bigger city, we look for one relatively close to a shopping centre or movie theatre, so the kids are occupied while one parent does the wash.
We do the laundry as needed, not on any particular schedule. - restlesswindExplorerAndroid has "local" which we use a lot, along with "yelp"
No problem finding almost anything,so far.
