How do we keep 2 yr old from opening screen door?

Hook a dog leash on the back of her outfit and only give her enough to move around the RV, but not to get to the door!
Fasten the loop end onto something that doesn't move.

I installed one of those door security chains. The chain is screwed into the wall and I installed the receiver part vertically on the door so one would have to slide the chain part up to enter. From the outside, I just slide open the slider on the screen door, reach in and disengage the chain.
Had my 18 month old fall out of the trailer. Luckly she wasn't hurt.

We had our great-granddaughter out in the toyhauler last summer. She was just toddling and not really steady on her feet. She leaned against the door, and just managed to pull down on the handle to open the door, and out she went. Luckily she was unhurt except for being scared half to death. I don't believe "a swat on the butt" would have done much to dissuade her from her action since she had no real idea what happened.

And I've rarely met a completely obedient child, some just test the boundaries. We call it being strong-willed in our family. :)

We like to latch our main door open and just leave the screen door.

This thread is very timely as I have an 11-month old who wants to be able to look out - especially once one of us goes out. I already have the folding handle - I'm going to try and see how it works folding it over.

The hook and loop thing - I'm surprised that it holds well enough.

(I'm also one of those who believes that children should obey. My daughter (now 9) was fantastically behaved. My son (11 1/2 month old) has tested every one of my parenting beliefs!)

Those folding steps have WAY to many narrow metal edges that are perfect for splitting lips and heads open as the kid tumbles down.

Kids do tend to "bounce" pretty well, but I would NEVER consider letting them fall out the door of a fiver to be an acceptable method of training or punishment. My fiver door (every one in every camper) has/had a lock on it to prevent my kids from falling out.

X3 on the hook and eyelet solution. We've done that to all our RVs, even though now our children are old enough, its not really necessary.

My BIL and his family just bought a new 5th wheel, he has smaller children where this is an issue. Last week, I helped him install the hook and eyelet. 'Tis the perfect solution - if you mount the hook/eyelet just above the sliding piece, its very easy to latch or unlatch from inside or out, yet its high enough a toddler can't reach it to unlatch it.

I think a lot of Us Old folks worry too much about these things.

The average two year old can scramble up, down and around most any Door or Staircase safer and faster than any of Us!

An unlikely fall out of the RV isn't going to do too much damage to a child but sure will do some hurt to Grandma!

Now running away or disappearing once They get Outside...that I worry about.

Just wait till they start climbing the ladder to the Roof or up the Trees!
