- deleted-2Explorer IIBrought the fifth wheel home today.
It was ready last Monday, but I wasn't.
The service folks at DeMartini fixed everything I cried about.
They're pretty good.
They even did some recaulking I was too lazy to get to.
Now if them campgrounds would just re-open :( - deleted-2Explorer IIWoof!
I need to find a closer warranty repair place.
Towed up to Grass Valley CA from here this morning for work needing done.
Not a excessive drive...it's just kind of a long drive because of the traffic going up there.
Here's to hoping we get our fiver back someday. - alfrescoExplorerMy dealer is 17 miles away in Sussex. Has been excellent on service.

My general take on warranty is the warranty is only as good as the product. If product has many problems so will getting warranty work.
I park my 1995 fiver where we go and if something needs fixed I fix it on the spot or when I can get the part. I keep fiver off season next to house and do all my own repairs so I know the ins and outs before we leave for next trip. I also keep many spare parts under the master bed that include wheel bearings, break parts, plumbing parts, electrical parts, jacks, tools. It is insurance for me to have it. If I ever up grade to newer fiver, it will NOT come with a warranty. ;)
We found this out as well. Warranty service was pretty good until we continued to have more and more failures while still under warranty. Actually the dealer became more reluctant than the manufacturer. We have probably fixed more of the problems ourselves than those fixed by dealers either in or out of warranty. The hassle and expense just getting to and from the dealer obviates making the trip for relatively minor warranty issues. The extremely high cost of having non-warranty repairs made at the dealer limits those to something we just cannot do ourselves. The only non-warranty repair we have had done was the replacement of the black tank. After observing the poor job that was done on it I will replace all tanks in the future if needed. We just have not had very goods luck with dealer repairs. Three trips alone to just fix the super slide was just an early indication of what we were going to face. - jasultExplorerMy general take on warranty is the warranty is only as good as the product. - B_O__PlentyExplorer III made one warranty trip. Waited 2 weeks to get it into the dealer I bought it from. They had it a month. I finally picked it up and had the parts sent to me from Heartland and I finished the warranty repairs myself. I'll never go back there and waste my time and fuel again...
- pigman1ExplorerAround 900 miles to the Tiffin factory at Red Bay, AL. Engine work at Spartanburg, SC Cummins (588 mi). I also have used the Freightliner plant at Gaffney, SC (565 mi) when we had a Freightliner Chassis issue. I'll also use La Mesa RV in Tucson when in the area. I do my own work and scheduled maintenance and will only use commercial repair facilities that I've checked out. I have been lied to numerous times, but firmly believe in "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." If I cannot watch the maintenance being done I'll only use that site in an emergency. I also check all repairs completely, no matter who does the work.
- jdogExplorerI don't have to worry about that anymore because I have no warranty. I go were I want.
- drillkingExplorerWe have a mobile repairman that has serviced our last 4 RV's. When we bought this last one we made sure the dealership ok'd him for any repairs that might be needed in the future. Used to do all my own mechanics but now I just let the younger guys do it!
