Proponents of licensing seem to forget that the stupid driver in question is from Canada. Explain to me how forcing US drivers to get licensed will fix this particular problem.

Once again I ask, no I beg, for folks to leave common sense and logic out of discussions in this forum. there is no place for it here.

Sounds to me like a whole bunch of you all that are dead set against mandatory licensing and skill testing probably cannot pass anyway.
Like a Motorcycle endorsement. To get one (at least in this state) you have to demonstrate to a state certified examiner, that you have the skills to handle a motorcycle...or you don't get the endorsement. I have that as well.
Apply that to RV's as well. Again, no issue with me, I'm already there but obviously a lot of folks aren't.
All I'm saying is, I see mandatory licensing coming in the future. Don't kid yourself, the NHTSA is always monitoring incidents with RV's. They get paid to do that.... with your tax dollars of course.
There are more and more RV's on the roadways today than ever before and more incidents than ever before and if big brother can get involved, they will.
We could go on forever discussing the pro's and con's of licensing but in reality, it's not up to you, it's up to the government if and when they implement that, and when they do, you will either comply or be done driving your RV.
When it happens and I'd be willing to bet it will...
Pretty black and white to me.
Sorry to burst your bubble but the new administration is anti regulation. They are cutting BACK regulations not go forward with more. - pnicholsExplorer IIThere are at least four solutions to stopping or nearly stopping this kind of stuff:
1. Make all vehicles automatic self-driving via "technology" - yeah, right.
2. Make drivers' licenses a lot tougher to get and lot tougher to renew - yeah, right.
3. Require special drivers' licenses for RVs and make them real tough to get and renew, especially towable RVs - yeah, right.
4. Go back to a good old nationally enforced 55 mph speed limit with no state, or kind-of-road, exceptions - yeah, right.
I vote for 2. and 3. and 4. - uniformly designed, uniformly enforced, and uniformly enforced across the nation - yeah, right.
(I doubt that doing the above would "bring our economy to it's knees". Doing this would instead save a lot of lives, injuries, and property damage ... plus lower a lot of blood pressures.) - GordonThreeExplorer

It is up to us. if the govt. gets too restrictive with regulations, etc. we boot their arse out.

Black, and white ?????? Hopefully I get this right, you want mandatory licensing for RV's ?
Let me ask how this mandatory licensing is going to fix stupid. I can be the best driver on the road, pass all the tests, and still do what that class A was doing.
I agree, there probably should be some requirements to drive these large RV's, not just let anyone behind the wheel of an RV. But NOTHING is going to stop the behavior that we got to see.
We have mandatory licensing to drive automobiles, and you can see every day how that is working out, we have idiots on the road that passed the tests. Test all you want, nothing fixes stupid once they hit the road. - dapperdanExplorer

To all of those that think making an endorsement for MH would keep something like this from happening, NOT A CHANCE! This guy would still drive like an idiot!
I totally agree, you can't fix stupid! I drove professionally for over 35 years and I have witnessed licensed and endorsed "professional drivers" do things just about as stupid as what was in that video. Most people drive sensibly but there's ALWAYS going to be an exception to the rule now and again.
I agree the dude in the class C could've backed out of it and given the class A some room BUT that dude in the class A had NO business passing everything in sight on a two lane highway in the first place!

and you would have more govt. red tape, restrictions, inconvenience, etc. that would not add to anybody's safety.
