No problem switching between a large tank and a small one. I usually run my grill off a large tank and carry a couple of small green tanks in case I run out of gas in the large tank. I have switched a couple of times without a problem.
Thank you and all the others - tenbearExplorerNo problem switching between a large tank and a small one. I usually run my grill off a large tank and carry a couple of small green tanks in case I run out of gas in the large tank. I have switched a couple of times without a problem.

OK, I got the hose. How about pressure regulation? Is the pressure from the larger tank a problem?
Thanks for all the help
The pressure from a big tank is the same as from a little tank—namely, the vapor pressure of the propane. (Technically speaking, that's only true so assuming the temperature of the propane is the same. A small tank will cool down more quickly as the propane vaporizes, and will thus have a little lower pressure as time goes on than the larger tank, but that's of no practical consequence here. It does matter when trying to run a large appliance from a small tank.) - IAMICHABODExplorer IINot at all, hook it up and enjoy.

While you are at it, you might consider an 11 pound tank. Same height but smaller diameter. It fits in places the 20# tank won't but is still refillable.
Or, the 5 pound (1 gallon) cylinder (the one I have); about the same diameter as a 20 pounder, but MUCH shorter! - tenbearExplorerWhile you are at it, you might consider an 11 pound tank. Same height but smaller diameter. It fits in places the 20# tank won't but is still refillable.
