How to shift weight off front end

This weekend I ran the truck and TT over a CAT scale on the way home.
I only ran it across once, and kept the WDH engaged. Next time I'll run at least twice over the scale.

Unfortunately, I found the following weights:
5340 Steer Axle
3280 Drive Axle
8200 TT tandem
Gross: 16820

GAWR Frnt = 4800 - 5340 = (540) overloaded
GAWR RR = 6084 - 3280 = 2804 available

Gross combined rating for the truck is 16000 - 16820 = (820) overloaded

So, overall I need to find 820 pounds to remove from the camper and truck. I'm on it.

BUT - my big concern is shifted some weight off the steer axle. I hope I can simply drop a link or two on the WDH, and that will shift some weight to the rear axle.

Perhaps you had the truck parked with the rear tires partly on the steer axle pad and partly on the drive axle pad??

This would add load to the reported steer axle weight and remove load from the reported drive axle weight.

    My experience with Cat Scales.

Pay the fee for the first "weigh". Within the same day a second weigh is no charge.

Take your weigh ticket back to Cat & explain that the figures you have are impossible. In my opinion, there is no way the WDH can redistribute weight in the manner you have described.

I did see the sign that said $10.50 for the first weigh, $2 for the second.

But, I'm all decoupled, and I've emptied the truck... it needs TPMS replacements.

Seems like your weights are impossible. Steer and drive reversed somehow? The gross combined is a peformance based number, not a legal based number. You would be under gross combined with 4.10 gears.

I totally agree the weights are odd. But the CAT scale "certifies" that they are legit.

And I absolutely agree that the 4.10 gears would put the GCWR up to 18,500 for a 2007 2500HD Crew 4x4.

I have emptied the truck, and I will run just the pickup over the scale tomorrow since I'm headed that way. Loading as if camping will need to wait a bit, but it's in my future.
