We have maybe four inches on the ground. It's beautiful outside.
Not a vehicle on the road nor any trains this evening. Usually there is one every half hour or less. Maybe the crews are off for Valentine's day.
They salted the roads, Sunday, Monday and yesterday. Snowed early then rain aand washed it all off. Snowed about dark again.
It's not bad but I wouldn't want to drive or tow anything in it. When I and everybody else was young, snowy roads didn't matter if the cars or pickup wouldn't go the coal trucks would. They were ten ton single axle duals. I guess they were big for the day. They always had cleated tires on them. We started somewhere and got stuck we simply pushed them free, that is the cars or pickups. good many times we had to walk in deep snow back to Grand Ma's. go the next day with the big truck or someone else along to get the vehicle. Of course we didn't go to the corner store evrey little bit or pizza joint. We went it was because we absolutely had to or I think it was just to play in the snow. Stores were all in town about 6 or7 miles away, on dirt road. Have walked it many times dry wet, or snow. The coldest thing there is is a wet shoe full of snow. Wearing dried out shoes ain't much fun either. Didn't go after dark. Everybody was home. The only one to answer a phone was the pharmacist and the doctor. No one called the sheriff, if they got stuck or ran off the road. If someone got killed he would show up but he might just call the Highway Patrol, if there was one in the County and the radios worked. No one missed work much either. If you didn't show up no one else had either. No one got chewed out. It was just an ordianry part of life. Can't stop nature nor overpower it.
