Our old house use to get power outages due to tree limbs falling or transformers blowing. Then we had a fireplace to keep us warm and the battery from the old trailer and boat for some little things like TV. At this house the lines are all buried and the much newer power station is a few blocks away. The power has been out here for a few hours but never days.
So the electric radiators make a good back up even though they are older. The first was bought in the 80's and is used to keep the garage warm in the winter time. It does just as well as the two from the 90's that have seen much less use.
When the power does go out, we have the solar, batteries and inverter. The Champ will take over when they can't do it. Worst case scenario and I will pick up the trailer and drop it in front of the house. That's a lot easier to run than the house is.
