Installing master battery cut off switch

I purchased a master battery cut off switch from Harbor Freight. I have a single 12v battery in a black battery box mounted on the “A-Frame” at the front of my trailer. I am having trouble coming up with a great way to mount and install it (let alone, how to hook it up).

Has anyone done the same thing with similar layout?

Thank you

  • For a single battery, I have one of the knife switch cut-offs that mount right on the battery post. Then the wire that would have been attached to the post is attached to the post on this switch....it takes up very little room, and works great.

I don't have a picture of it, but you should be able to find them at any auto-supply store.
  • If you purchased the one with the red handle, there is two bolt holes to mount it. Red handle portion would be on outside. Of course if you have battery box wityh limited end or side spave you could have a problem, other then mounting it to the cover. You could get a 4 inch covered electrical box and mount it to the outside of the battery box or on the frame.
The one with green knob works very well. Just mount it to the battery terminal and bolt you wires to the pin provided.
    battery switches.
Remember if you plan on twoing with the battery disconnect in the open position that you must wire your brakes to the hot side of the switch.
